So I’ve recently fallen back in love with wearing makeup. My routine has consisted of wearing only concealer and mascara all summer long. I don’t know when the last time I actually wore a face full of makeup. I think it’s mostly because in the summer time, it’s entirely too hot to cake your face. The humidity in the south is just too much to bear. I’ve forgotten why I fell in love with painting my face.
So why do I wear makeup? The answer is so simple. It is a form of artistry. Let me just say, I’m by no means a makeup artist in the slightest, but I love to create glam looks. My face becomes my canvas to create and transform into something beautiful. Well, at least it’s beautiful to me. I wear it because I love it, and not because I need it. It is my form of self-expression. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing something to give yourself that small bit of confidence to take on whatever it is you’ll face that day. No pun intended! No matter how superficial it may come off as, you do what you need to do for you. This is part of my self care that I really don’t utilize quite as often as I should. I say that because I have way too much makeup to allow to go to waste.
For this particular look, I was of course inspired by the season. I love shades of orange and red for makeup looks. I took these selfie portraits after I had just wore this makeup look for about 6 hours. It stayed on pretty well considering I was sweating something serious at church. It took me about 30 minutes to complete this look. That’s one of the main reasons why I don’t do a full face. I just don’t have that kind of time to spare everyday. This is more of a special occasion or going out look. However, I’m not opposed to going to the grocery store looking like this either! I woke up Sunday morning and felt like glamming it up!
I have a makeup collection that consists of high end and drug store products. I don’t discriminate when it comes to what I wear. I’ll try something out regardless of the brand. If I like it, I continue to use it. However, I’ll have to admit that Sephora is my favorite place to shop for makeup. One of the reasons is because I can test the products before I buy them. You don’t really get that option from the drugstore, and I’m not about returning something I’ve used. Most of the products in my collection are oily girl friendly.
If you’d like to recreate my look, I’ve listed the products I used down below or just use what you already have in your collection if you’re a makeup lover like me. I may post some Youtube videos on my blog showing you how I do my makeup looks in the future. If that’s something you’d be interested in, just let me know. Stay fabulous, and take care of yourself as well as others.
