One of the best things about being a woman and more specifically a woman of color, is the ability to change up our hair at any given day of the week. If you’re a woman of color you most certainly can relate. I’ve used a number of hair care products in my lifetime. So much so that I probably could have purchased a small house in Idaho. In the grand scheme of things, it seems like money wasted. However, as the saying goes, when you look good, you feel good. Hair care of course should be included in your routine of looking good.
With the vast number of products that are out now, it can be a daunting task to find the right product for your hair. We as women scour the aisles of our local beauty stores and the like to find that perfect product that will give us those beautiful tresses that we seek. It becomes somewhat of a scavenger hunt as we read label after label wondering does this product really come through on its claims.
Well I’ve been fortunate enough to find the right products that work the best for my hair. I tend to not stray from these holy grail products, and when I do try something different, I always fall back to what works best for this head full of hair of mine.
Hello Hydration
The first product I would like to mention is my conditioner by Herbal Essences. I’ve been using this product for years now. The recommendation came from a YouTuber I was watching one day whom claimed it made your hair silky soft. I thought to myself ok let me see what the hype is about. Well needless to say I was hooked. This product does it all. It not only softens my hair, it also detangles. I mostly use it as a co-wash which is simply washing your hair with a conditioner. I either purchase a big container from Sams Club or my local drug store. It tends to last me a few months, and I also use it on my daughters hair. She is natural, meaning I don’t put any products in her hair to chemically alter it’s texture. I’m a tex-lax gal, meaning I do apply products in my hair to chemically alter it’s texture, however, I weaken the chemical with a conditioner or oil to minimize over processing.

Creme of Nature
The second product I would like to mention is another conditioner by Creme of Nature. I’ve been using this product for a while as well. This is another one of those products that I tend to go back to time and time again. I stumbled upon this at the drug store one day. I heard Argan Oil was good for your hair and thought I’d give it a try. It also softens and detangles my hair. I mostly apply this product to my hair when it’s dry to help with styling. I do the same for my daughters hair as well. It works wonders to soften her curls. As a matter of fact, a comb will not glide through our hair unless I apply this product first. Gone are the days of breaking combs thanks to this product!!!

TRESemme
The next product in my hair care routine is by TRESemme. It’s a heat protection spray that is a must for my hair. I use several heat styling tools from curling wands to blow dryers so protection is key. Not only does it protect my hair from heat, but it also helps to add shine. I always apply this before any heat styling. I typically purchase it from any of my local drug stores. I don’t use heat a whole lot, but when I do, this product is what I’m reaching for always.

Organx
The next product that I love is by Organx. Again, I stumbled upon this product at my local drug store. I was using a few of the brand’s shampoos, and thought I would try out the oil as well. I absolutely recommend this hair oil for anyone with dry hair. My hair is not only dry at times, but it’s also very coarse. This product really helps to restore luster back into my hair. I try to apply it every night before I go to bed when I remember, and a little goes a long way.

Creme of Nature
The final product I want to talk about is another product by Creme of Nature. This is a hair gel specifically for your edges. I’m not a huge fan of hair gel because most of them leave a white residue in your hair or you’re left with little flakes. This product doesn’t do that at all. It is however a little greasy, so use sparingly. It does wonders with keeping your edges smooth and tamed. I usually purchase mine from my local drug store.

As you can tell there is a running theme here with my favorite products. My hair clearly loves Argan Oil, coconut, and conditioner. I didn’t mention any shampoos because I change those out the most. I mostly use the ones from the Organx line. I’ll post some pics down below of some of my favorite ones if you’d like to try them out. So what are some of your favorite hair care products. I’m always looking to try out something different if it will give me the results I’m searching for which is softness and shine. Thanks for taking the time to read, and take care of yourself as well as others.
